JC's practice takes local cultures and bodily memory as recurring points of departure, exploring how experiences of place continue to shape individuals caught between the sticky attachments of place and suspended forms of communal belonging.
Working through spatial installation, JC brings moving image, archival materials, performance and sculpture into relationships that shape how works are encountered and perceived. Materiality and tactile encounters become ways of giving form to ambiguous experiences that resist articulation.
